Should you DIY? Is VAD worth it?

Antennas are not extremely difficult to install yourself. However, they require you to:

  • Be able bodied to do the work, good shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and a respirator for attic work.
  • A ladder and specialized tools for coaxial cables, pliers, wrenches, ratchet & sockets, drill & bits.
  • A level, the RCA signal finder app, antenna, and mounting pole / bracket / hardware, and zip ties.
  • Cutting pliers or pocket knife, and a fiend on hand to stabilize the ladder.
  • Coaxial cable hardware including the cable and compression fittings, and potentially a balun.
  • Sometimes you will need to install a powered splitter and or a preamplifier.
  • You may also want a DVR, or to run coax to new rooms requiring you to run cable through the walls or outside the house through the wall.
  • possess the skills and knowledge to use the hardware, fittings, components and troubleshoot issues.

All considered, unless you have the tools to do the installation, our service will be cheaper. If you have experience, or possess these tools, DIY when done SAFELY is a great option and can still give you the free TV you are looking for! Otherwise, you will need to buy special tools and hardware that will be left over after being used for only a 1 time deal! VAD services use these tools to do many installations, so there no studying to learn how to do an installation or 1 time deal issues with antenna specific tools and hardware.
